OMG!

was just watching recorded Mangal Pandey movie with parents...
and they should this "suttee" thing...

lemme explain the grotesque details of what that is...
when the husband of a lady dies... aka... she becomes a widow... she is creamated with him alive.
cause that was supposed to be honourable...

you know when they erikufy the body? she sits next to the fellow... and well... you know... "bye bye"

the more shocking thing is that usually the girls were very VERY young when they were married off... and it's just natural for a 60+ guy to die within a few years of marriage... and the young girl... well... goes off with hime...

the most shocking thing is that... this used to be supported by womenfolk as well... it wasn't just the men who egged this on :O [though when these very "supportive" women get their turn at this... they would change their minds... only to realise it's too late]...

and according to me mum... the upper castes generally conducted this :O:O:O
